Thailand is a beautiful country, with diverse scenery and many tourist attractions. The scenic roads in Thailand are often well maintained, allowing you to enjoy driving while taking in the beauty of Thai nature. Here are some of the best scenic roads to take on your next road trip.
Route 101
Route 101 is one of the most popular scenic drives in Thailand. It’s located in the northeastern part of Thailand, which is known for its mountainous terrain and beautiful views. If you want to see different parts of Thailand, then Route 101 is a good road to take.
While driving along this route, you should look into car insurance options in Thailand as well. In many cases, your own personal auto insurance will be accepted while travelling abroad. However, if you are looking for additional coverage or protection while driving in Thailand, it would be best to get additional coverage through an international travel policy or credit card benefits package before leaving home.
Doi Luang-Pu Kaeng
Doi Luang-Pu Kaeng is a mountain range in Thailand. It is located in Chiang Mai Province, and it is part of the Daen Lao Range.
The mountain range is a popular tourist destination because it offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, including the Doi Suthep National Park at its peak.
Samoeng Loop
The Samoeng Loop is a popular route for motorcyclists that starts in Chiang Mai and ends in Chiang Mai. The loop takes you through Doi Inthanon National Park, which boasts incredible mountain views and beautiful greenery. As you pass the national park, you’ll also be passing through the city of Chiang Mai, with its bustling markets and colourful temples.
Pha Miang-Pha Nok Kok
This scenic road loops through the Khao Yai National Park, with a total length of about 50km. The road is closed during the rainy season, from June to October because it can flood easily. If you’re interested in taking this trip during this time, please keep in mind that you’ll need an off-road vehicle and be prepared for your vehicle to get stuck sometimes (especially if the rains start). The roads on either side of Pha Miang-Pha Nok Kok are also closed during these months so you won’t be able to drive here at all.
Khao Yai
Khao Yai National Park is the largest national park in Thailand and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. It is located in the western part of Thailand, not far from Bangkok.
The famous park can be explored by car, motorbike or bike and has a wide range of accommodation options available to suit all budgets. There are also many hiking trails that give visitors an opportunity to explore some spectacular natural beauty as well as take in a glimpse of wild animals such as deer and monkeys.
Chiang Dao
Chiang Dao is a small town in the Chiang Mai Province of Thailand. It’s known for its stunning scenery, including waterfalls and caves. It’s also known for its fruit orchards, especially durian – this one’s taste is so powerful that most people either love it or hate it.
From Chiang Mai City, you can take Highway 1120 west toward Pai. About halfway between these two cities (approximately 30 km from each), you’ll see a sign on your right indicating the turnoff to Chiang Dao National Park (sign pictured above). From there it’s about another 10km along Rte 1231 until you reach the village of Wiang Phrao where many guesthouses are located.
Conclusion
Now that you know all about Thailand’s scenic roads, it’s time to start planning your trip. Whether you want a relaxing getaway or an adventurous road trip, there are plenty of options available. And don’t forget to take some pictures along the way.
